You go to the cinema to see a much anticipated film. You spend money on a ticket, buy a bag of popcorn, sit comfortably awaiting the start of the film. You come here to enjoy yourself, escape the reality and dive into a different world.
But there is always someone out there to spoil this moment for you. An idiot with the addiction to smart phones, for example. Because he can’t live without his phone for the duration of a film. He has to check his mail every two seconds, text someone or just update his Facebook status coz the world must know he’s at the cinema.
And it’s bloody annoying to have the light of a phone shining right in your face in a dark cinema when you try to concentrate on a film. I always have to fight the urge to hit the offender on the head. Preferably with his own phone! Or shout out loud ‘Switch off the phone, you moron!’
Is it too much to ask??? Apparently it is. Because everywhere you go there’s someone who doesn’t know what savoir vivre means and blunders through his / her life offending others.
I am a firm believer in a simple rule – if you don’t react to something, you condone it and it doesn’t bother you. The light in the dark bothered me, though. I could sit in silence while boiling inside or do something about it. I chose the latter and told the moron to switch off the damn phone coz it was ruining my view.
And you know what? It helped!
