21st April is a very special day – Queen Elizabeth II celebrates Her birthday. This year She turns 91. Many happy returns, Your Royal Highness!!!
The British Monarchy is vastly popular among its subjects. What’s more, the whole world shows a keen interest in news from the Buckingham Palace. Every Queen’s public appearance gathers multitude of enthusiasts, and press articles about the Royal Family sell magazines like hot cakes. Queen’s face has been gracing stamps, postcards and front pages of numerous publications for years.
Royal births, baptisms and weddings have been a fundamental part of social life in the UK. These ceremonies always attract public attention because deep down everyone wants to meet a member of the Royal Family. Thousands of tourists come to London every year in hope of glimpsing the majestic figure of Elizabeth II.
Lots of people think that the monarchy is a relic of the past, but I don’t think that the British will get rid of the Windsors any time soon. The nation loves its sovereign and holds Her in high esteem because She embodies the virtues and qualities that they hold dear: the ‘stiff upper lip’, self-discipline, fortitude and remaining calm in hardship.
The Queen is punctual, polite and good-natured. Her manners and apparel are always impeccable! She takes Her royal duties seriously and fulfils them with patience and commitment. Noblesse oblige! What’s more, Elizabeth II is never stingy with praise and a smile often lights up Her face. We are not amused does not apply to this Royal!
People are usually awed by the Queen’s majesty. It seems that being tongue-tied is a regular occurrence. Therefore, She always tries to put Her interlocutors at ease by asking questions and showing genuine interest in their lives.
Although, Elizabeth II has lived at the centre of public attention since Her early childhood, She is still shrouded in mystery. She has never given a press interview or discussed Her personal opinions publicly. Truth be told, Her subjects haven’t got the faintest idea what goes on in their sovereign’s mind and that is what makes the Queen so remarkable. Her guarded responses and enigmatic smile conceal the real woman we may never know.
Queen Elizabeth II is the living embodiment of British history. She represents a stronghold against rapid and frightening change. She is steadfast and faithful to the oath She took over 60 years ago.
On this special day let’s recollect some of the most iconic looks of the most important Lady of the British Isles.
The Queen enjoys country life and Her love for dogs and horses is well known.
The British Monarch is also an icon of style. Her hats and matching suits are legendary.
She looks great in a tiara as well as in a scarf.
In my opinion Elizabeth II is one of the most beautiful women in the world.
